Marion, Ohio — The Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (MACVB) Board of Directors has announced the upcoming retirement of its Director, Bev Ford, marking the conclusion of a career defined by leadership, creativity, and a deep commitment to the Marion community.
Ford shared, “Marion has always been home for me. I was born and raised here, and after my husband Doug and I spent thirteen years away, we returned in 1993 to build our lives and raise our family. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to contribute to Marion’s quality of life throughout my career. It has been a true joy—and an honor—to serve this community. I look forward to seeing Marion continue to grow and thrive.”
Ford joined MACVB in January 2022, bringing with her more than two decades of experience in arts, tourism, and community engagement. Prior to her role with the Bureau, she served for 22 years at the historic Marion Palace Theatre, including 10 years as Executive Director, where she played a key role in elevating the Theatre’s presence as a cultural cornerstone in Marion.
During her tenure with MACVB, Ford has led efforts to strengthen Marion’s visibility as a destination, enhance partnerships across the community, and develop marketing initiatives that highlight the area’s unique assets and experiences. Her leadership has helped position Marion for continued growth in tourism and visitor engagement.
“Bev’s passion for this community and her ability to tell Marion’s story have made a lasting impact,” said Brenda Gilliam, Chair of the MACVB Board of Directors. “We are grateful for her leadership and the strong foundation she has built for the future.”
As part of this transition, the MACVB Board of Directors will begin a search for the organization’s next Director. The position will lead marketing, operations, and partnership development efforts to further advance Marion as a welcoming and vibrant destination for visitors.
“We are excited to build on the momentum Bev has created,” added Gilliam. “This is an important opportunity to continue growing Marion’s tourism efforts and strengthening its economic impact.”
Information about the Director position, including application details, will be available May 1 by emailing [email protected], online at visitmarionohio.com, or on social media facebook.com/VisitMarionOhio.
Ford will continue in her role during the transition period to support a smooth leadership handoff.
