Marion Women’s Club Home
In 1945, the beautiful home was willed to the organization by Shauck & Ida Barlow after their death. Shauck was president and treasurer of the Huber Manufacturing Co. and a friend of President Warren G. Harding.
Ida was born October 3, 1861, in Hancock County, one of seven children born to George and Catherine Harsh. She grew up in Fostoria, Ohio, and studied art at Oberlin College. Her true love was music and art. She was a philanthropist. A member of Marion’s First Presbyterian Church, she was involved in Sunday School and mission work, deeply religious, and interested in the affairs of the church. She was a member of the Women’s Club, one of the oldest literary clubs in Marion.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Home is a beautiful historic site open for tours by appointment.
