Description: Explore Marion County’s history through the story of the Fish family in this 1.5-hour Adult Lifelong Learning course. The family’s seven generations in Marion County witnessed the community’s transformation from dense wilderness into a modern community, reflecting many of the major developments that shaped the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries. The program will be led by Sharon Gattshall, a seventh-generation member of the Fish family and a Marion native whose family first settled in Marion County in 1821. Gattshall is an active researcher of Marion County history and genealogy and has worked at The Ohio State University at Marion for more than 30 years. Registration and payment are required; stop by the Marion Public Library main desk for more information.
