Marion County Law Enforcement Memorial

The Law Enforcement Memorial honors the members of law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Located on land generously donated by the Marion Cemetery Association, the memorial serves as a place of reflection and remembrance for the community.

Crafted from black and gray granite, the monument features a hand-etched image of Marion Police Officer James Fitsko at its center. The left wing displays the star of the Fraternal Order of Police, while the right wing lists the names of fallen officers.

Funded through donations raised by Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #24, the memorial was dedicated on May 17, 2001. More than 200 family members, friends, and community supporters attended the ceremony, which included remarks from National Fraternal Order of Police President Gilbert Gallegos, Marion Mayor Jack Kellogg, and County Commissioner Andy Applefeller, a retired Ohio State Highway Patrol officer. Today, the memorial stands as a powerful tribute to the service, sacrifice, and dedication of those who protect and serve.
