MARION BLACK JOY SUMMERFEST

Marion County’s first annual summer festival celebrating Black Joy as a radical heritage tradition, & a pathway for dreaming just futures. Community co-curated as a part of the Marion Voices Folklife + Oral History Program. MARION BLACK JOY SUMMERFEST features three pop-up exhibits on Black Leisure & Recreation History in Marion County; Black Travel Experiences in Marion County; & Black Summertime Traditions in Marion County, alongside musical performances by Marion County culture-keepers, line-dancing workshops, foodways vendors, & a day of classic summertime board game tournaments. Come join us in Marion’s MLK Park on the West Side from 12-7PM on Saturday, June 26th for the wrap-up of Marion County’s long Juneteenth season … & to celebrate & honor the power of Black joy, Black arts, Black heritage, & Black futures!
