Description: Gear up for a Valentine’s Day adventure at the Marion Tallgrass Trail! The Marion County Parks District is hosting a Sweetheart Hike on February 14 from 1–4pm, as part of the 2026 Winter Hike Series. Participants can wander the trail at their own pace while soaking in the beauty of winter at the Tallgrass—perfect for couples, friends, families, or solo explorers. An optional guided hike will be available at 1:30pm. Attendees are invited to meet at the trailhead for a guided nature walk that explores local plants, wildlife, and the history of the trail. This is an excellent opportunity to learn something new while enjoying the outdoors. Complimentary T-shirts will be available (while supplies last). A limited number of adult T-shirts featuring the Marion County Park District logo on the front and “Love My Marion County Park District” on the back are offered for free, with donations accepted. Special thanks to the Marion Noon Kiwanis Chapter for their grant support that made these shirts possible! Refreshments will be provided at the Nature Center, and updates on weather conditions will be shared on social media. If unable to attend this event, mark your calendars for the final Winter Hike Series event, the Shamrock Hike, taking place on March 14.
