Christmas by Candlelight @ Marion County Fairgrounds
Nov 24 @ 6:00 pm – Dec 25 @ 10:00 pm

This event brings to life the spirit of the season with a dozen scenes that tell the story of Christmas through many different points of view, including a live Nativity on weekends. The Live Nativity is put on each weekend by local churches and animals as it comes to life. The lights will warm your heart and leave you with a spirit that will last through the Christmas season.

Carloads of people go through the winding path of lights each year. This event helps to fund different programs on the fairgrounds, along with purchasing additional lights each year for this event. You will see ginger bread men and reindeer flying through the air, angel trumpets announcing the birth and so much more!

A Marion Tradition Continues To Touch Hearts

When auditions roll around in October, our minds shift to the holidays as the sounds of the season fill the auditorium and everyone from soloists to a full cast of our neighbors, family, friends, and coworkers take the stage for what has become a favorite Marion tradition, Christmas at the Palace. With its beginnings in 1982, this production has become a thread in the holiday season that weaves together our lives in a cumulative celebration. The stories of Christmas at the Palace unfold through songs, dances, and musical numbers, as they touch our hearts with the peace, love, and joy we share during the Christmas season. Join us on a journey to the North Pole where Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a whole host of elves stand ready to greet you. And, travel back in celebration of that Holy Night that changed the lives of humanity. Christmas at the Palace holds dear all the things we cherish most about Christmas. Helping us make these memories is writer and director Clare Cooke. We hope you’ll join us for a meaningful and memorable start to your holidays.

Lisa Rock In “A Carpenter’s Christmas” @ Marion Palace Theatre
Dec 15 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Lisa Rock And The Close To You Band Bring “A Carpenters Christmas” To Town

One of the memorable holiday TV specials in the late 70s was that of The Carpenters. Now, singer Lisa Rock and her band are keeping the tradition alive and bringing their unforgettable holiday songs and variety show to the stage. Based on the music from The Carpenters’ two holiday albums (“Christmas Portrait” and “An Old-Fashioned Christmas”) and Christmas variety shows, this concert aims to spread joy and cheer to all!

A CARPENTERS’ CHRISTMAS comes from the creative team behind “Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters,” who performed for a full house at the Marion Palace Theatre in 2014. The festive show includes holiday classics such as “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “The Christmas Song,” “Jingle Bells,” “Silent Night,” and of course, “Merry Christmas, Darling” among others. Accompanying the band will be a local children’s choir – members to be announced.

In addition to the collection of Christmas songs, the band will also perform some of the famous duo’s classic tunes.
