The BookMarks of the Marion Public Library presents:

October 25, 2019 @ Marion Public Library
6:00 pm: Social hour mingle event
with the author before the main speaking presentation, a limited number of tickets available for $75 per person or $125/2 people

7:00 pm: General admission
ticket for the main speaking presentation is $40 per person

Hear from John Scalzi, one of the most popular and acclaimed Science Fiction authors to emerge n the last decade.  Enjoy the Library’s space in a whole new light with this entertaining evening featuring live music, desserts, beverages, and a cash bar. The author will be available for a book signing afterward, with the opportunity to purchase copies of his books before or during the event. Desserts, beverages, cash bar and musical entertainment provided, and all proceeds go to support the operations of the Marion Public Library.

Tickets will be on sale at the Library’s front desk starting mid-September, in the BookMarket, and on the BookMarks’ event website.

Copies of select titles by Mr. Scalzi will be available for pre-purchase.
Pre-purchase of books ensures an earlier line number for the book signing.

Mr. Scalzi was born in Fairfield, California in 1969 and now lives in Ohio. He has a great interest in the Science Fiction and was the former president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. He has written on a number of topics since 1998 and was the recipient of the 2016 Governors Award for the Arts in Ohio. Other awards included the Hugh, the Audie, the Seiun and the Kurd Lasswitz.

He is the author of The Collapsing Empire, Head On, Lock In, and more. His widely read blog, Whatever, has earned him two Hugo Awards. He lives in Ohio with his wife and daughter.

Applebutter Stir & Horseradish Day @ Lawrence Orchards

The lighting of the wood fire under the kettle will be in the early hours of the day. Canned jars of apple butter will be available late in the day. In between, learn how apple butter was made – from orchard to glass jars. At the same time enjoy the grinding of their horseradish crop.  What a pungent smell…you won’t want to miss it!  Then take a jar or two of our “Hot as Hades Horseradish” to share.

Family Funday Monster Mash @ Marion Palace Theatre
Oct 26 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Enjoy a spooky (but not too spooky) event featuring party music, line dancing, games, goody bags, and a costume contest.

$12 for a family of 4; each additional member $3.
